How to Adjust Governor on Yamaha G29 Drive Gas Golf Cart | Speed Increase

Jul 12th 2017

To perform this operation on your cart, you will need a 10-mm wrench and a pair of gloves. The mechanic is demonstrating how to adjust the governor on a Yamaha cart. The first step is to take the rear inspection panel off. This is where the spring-actuated governor sits. It looks like a needle held in place by a silver handle. By tightening the nut, you expose more of the rod and increase the speed of the cart. Overtightening, however, can damage the engine or allow oil to seep into the carburetor or muffler.

NOTE: Your engine warranty may be affected by increasing the speed setting of your governor.
